A Health System of Deep-Rooted Growth
MediCorp is a not-for-profit 28-facility regional health care system with a major presence in the Greater Fredericksburg region. Our cornerstone facility is Mary Washington Hospital - the only premier state-of-the-art acute-care facility in the region. The other members of our growing family include behavioral health, outpatient, senior, home care, hospice, imaging, and rehabilitation, as well as community outreach services.

The Mary Washington Hospital Foundation
The Mary Washington Hospital Foundation has worked to improve community health care since 1983. As the philanthropic arm of MediCorp Health System, the Foundation raises funds to purchase medical equipment for Mary Washington Hospital and other facilities to provide educational scholarships for Associates and nursing students, and to build the endowment for the Mary Washington Hospital Community Service Fund which currently stands at $15 million.

Managed through the Foundation, the Fund provides bi-annual grants to non-profit community organizations. Grants are awarded through a multi-disciplinary selection committee to local organizations that improve health care.

In the year 2004, the number of endowed scholarships continued to grow, allowing the Foundation to award over $11,000 - more resources than ever before awarded to MediCorp Health System Associates who are pursuing a higher level of health care education. In 2005, an additional $15,000 has been awarded to 26 qualified Associates. The Foundation also hosts an annual golf tournament and a bi-annual polo match. Both are very popular with community fundraisers.

Strong community ties are a long-standing tradition at MediCorp Health System. 100 years since our founding, our steadfast involvement in the community is stronger than ever. Our community outreach programs have helped strengthen the fabric of life in the Fredericksburg region, improved the health of our neighbors, and enhanced the quality of life in our community. As our system grows stronger, we will continue our role as a compassionate health care provider and dedicated community leader. Some examples of our successful programs include:

Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary
The largest volunteer group at Mary Washington Hospital, the MWH Auxiliary is a dynamic membership organization providing patient and hospital support, fund-raising, and community outreach. The Auxiliary conducts 23 volunteer services including the Gift Shop, the Mary Washington Shoppe, and the Chancellor's Village Store.

Mobile Health Clinic
Staffed with a nurse practitioner, our Clinic is a mobile doctor's office equipped to deliver medical care and screenings in areas of our community where they are needed most.

Mary Washington Hospital Mobile Mammography Program
Offers mobile mammograms at a reduced cost to women in the Greater Fredericksburg region for over 10 years.

Home Care America/Medical Arts Pharmacy
Providing the type of care that extends beyond the facility - that's the mission of Home Care America and Medical Arts Pharmacy. For many of our patients, health care does not end after they are discharged. What these patients need are the unique home care services that are part of our commitment to an extensive continuum of care.

At Home Care America, you will assist our patients in improving their quality of life after their discharge by recommending the right health care product from our wide variety of merchandise ranging from cancer care to general wellness.
